XJTLU was officially established in 2006. In September, XJTLU welcomed the first intake of 164 students. In July 2015, a collaboration agreement was signed between XJTLU and Suzhou Industrial Park that created a world-class platform for innovation in Suzhou.


You will be actively engaged in the learning process, working in teams, using the latest classroom technologies and benefitting from early research opportunities. Taking advantage of the knowledge and experience of the international staff, you will engage fully in English, the international language of education, science and business.

Student services

The International Student Recruitment and Support (ISRS) office provides a range of services to help make your experience at XJTLU go as smoothly as possible. The ISRS office is the first service point for all international and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students at the University. Here you can access a range of facilities, plus a support network to ensure your safety, health and well-being.

The One-Stop Student Service Centre provides a range of services and it aims to facilitate communication among students, parents and the University.

Housing services

The accommodation facilities students stay in are located within the Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District (SEID) and managed privately by the Suzhou Industrial Park Education Development and Investment Limited Company.

All international students are guaranteed accommodation throughout their study at XJTLU. Accommodation options range from studios to six-bedroom apartments (subject to availability with preference given to advanced bookings).

Library services

The library currently holds over 500,000 books, which are added to and updated throughout the year in response to requests from academic departments. It provides 22,000 square metres of space, housing 300 PCs and 2,500 seats for studying, discussion and computer and studio work.

ICT services

Much of the computing resources are managed by the Management Information Technology and System office, who also provide free Wi-Fi access across campus, file server storage and printing services. A dedicated IT helpdesk is available to all students seven days a week.

Medical services

University life can be exciting and yet stressful from time to time. XJTLU has support services in place should you be finding it difficult. The Mental Health and Development Centre is a confidential service that can support you to get the most out of your time at university or if you need to talk to someone about any concerns you have.

Student Life

Campus life

Full of striking, architecturally impressive buildings, the North Campus provides state-of-the art teaching, laboratory, research and support facilities. This includes the award-winning and iconic Central Building, which houses our library.

The campus also has sports facilities, world class-fully equipped science and engineering laboratories, International Business School Suzhou, and design studios, as well as a variety of catering facilities, including Subway, Pacific Coffee Company, and many canteen-style fast-food options.

Landscaped gardens complement pieces of modern art to create a campus environment that has become one of the striking features of Suzhou Industrial Park.

Sports facilities

XJTLU has outside sport facilities that include basketball and tennis courts as well as indoor facilities, such as a golf training venue, gym, dance room, and table tennis room. There is also a football field located next to the new South Campus. 

Currently, 21 sports are offered through PE classes at XJTLU, including badminton, basketball, belly dancing, billiards, boxing, bridge, Chinese martial arts, football, free combat, body building, golf, popping, roller-skating, sport dancing, table tennis, taekwondo, tai chi, tai chi sword, tennis, Ultimate Frisbee and yoga.

Student clubs

Student clubs and organisations play an important role at XJTLU and they have more than 120 organisations centred on art, sports, entrepreneurship, social service, academia and science to name but a few. The Student Union is a self-governing organisation open to all XJTLU students. It strives to serve the student body, lead and promote campus culture, and represent students’ voices in University development. It’s also a communications channel between the University and students.


The business school is the youngest ever to earn AACSB International accreditation and XJTLU were the first in China to gain unconditional Part 1 accreditation from RIBA for their architecture degree. They also have accreditation from the JBM for their civil engineering programmes and the IET for their electrical and electronic engineering degrees.
