History

Founded as the national training body for surgery in Ireland, RCSI has been at the forefront of healthcare education since its establishment in 1784.

Education

Today, we are an innovative, world-leading international health sciences university and research institution offering education and training at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional level.

Research

RCSI is purposefully committed to solving the greatest challenges of modern healthcare.

Our translational research enhances patient treatment, informs policy and clinical practice, and improves the quality of education of healthcare professionals.

Student services

The RCSI Registry Services team offers guidance and support on a range of academic matters for students and staff.

Registry is responsible for the administration of core academic matters, including:

  • the registration of students;
  • the approval of new and review of existing programmes of study;
  • RCSI and NUI award boards and academic conferrings; and
  • medals and prizes.

Housing services

One of the most important tasks facing prospective RCSI students is the search for suitable accommodation. Luckily, RCSI offers a number of services to assist students with finding the perfect home away from home.

At RCSI we welcome students from every corner of the world, and aim to create a ‘home from home’ for all our residents. We know that every student is different, so we have plenty of choice when it comes to deciding which room is right for you.

Library services

The Library supports the teaching, learning and research activities of the RCSI by the provision of information resources through our networked digital library services.

Direct study facilities are provided in the RCSI Library at the 26 York Street and Beaumont Hospital sites. We aim to provide an optimal study and learning environment and we operate specific policies to support that objective.

Campus life

At RCSI history meets cutting-edge technology. Our state-of-the-art campus offers everything you will need to meet your academic, professional and personal goals while studying at RCSI.

Designed with top performance in mind, the RCSI campus - on St Stephen's Green, York Street and Beaumont Hospital - is packed with resources fine-tuned for your needs.

Sports facilities

Sport is central to student life at RCSI. In fact not only do we have a new, state-of-the-art gym which is free for all of our students to use, we are also immensely proud of our 30+ active sports clubs, many of which represent RCSI at intercollegiate competitions and regional and national tournaments.

Student clubs

RCSI’s 35 clubs and sports teams are open to all students and regularly welcome new members, so whatever the sport and whatever your competency level, there are plenty of opportunities to stay active.
