University of Prešov

The University of Prešov in Prešov was established by Act No. 361/1996 Coll. on the division of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, effective from 1 January 1997. At the beginning, it consisted of five faculties - the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Greek Catholic Theological Faculty, the Faculty of Pedagogy and the Orthodox Theological Faculty.

It creates the concept of the educational system and ensures its application at the faculties of the university, coordinates the activities of the vice-deans of the faculties in the creation of study programs and their implementation, methodologically guides the departments for education, manages bachelor's, master's, doctoral and lifelong education at the university, prepares the schedule of the school year and controls its implementation, coordinates schedules with the aim of effective use of the university's premises.

The university not only offers a wide range of study programs, several of which are the best in Slovakia, but attention is also paid to scientific and research activities.
