In 1911 East Tennessee State Normal School opens, 29 students register first day; two courses of study offered, a four-year high school curriculum and a two-year normal school curriculum. Normal School consisted of the departments of education, English, history, science, languages, industrial training, agriculture, and the training school.
The university conducts a wide array of educational and research programs and clinical services including a comprehensive Academic Health Sciences Center.

ETSU offers a comprehensive assortment of student service offices. The ETSU Department of Housing and Residence Life provides housing for students and guests attending orientation between May-August. If you are interested in reserving a space please contact the Department of Housing and Residence life.
ETSU’s Charles C. Sherrod Library boasts a wide assortment of services and research assistance. Housed within the ETSU Library you will find IT support for students, tutoring services, the testing center, Graduate studies, and other student focused services and offices.
ETSU has a clinic on campus to serve students with any health care concerns, and ETSU is located across the street from our regional hospital.
Campus Recreation provides inclusive and diverse recreational programs, facilities, and resources, including leadership and employment opportunities, for the ETSU community to promote a lifelong pursuit of wellness.
Campus Recreation offers diverse recreational programming in five (5) areas: Aquatics, Fitness & Wellness, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, and Outdoor Adventure. Non-Credit Instruction is also offered by certified trainers, as well as facility times dedicated to self-directed recreational activities.
Student Activities and Organizations exists to promote student engagement opportunities that assist in the development and success of student leaders and their organizations.

My department, The Department of Geology and Mining, greatly balanced theory and real-world application through field trips, classes and conferences (both national and international). And I have gained a whole lot of experiences, knowledge and real life values, so I'm really grateful for it.
Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) offers a solid academic foundation, especially in science and engineering fields. The lecturers are knowledgeable and passionate, and I appreciated the strong sense of community among students. Likes: - Affordable tuition - Good academic structure - Dedicated lecturers in some faculties - Strong alumni network Dislikes: - Inconsistent academic calendar - Poor infrastructure and limited resources - Administrative delays - some sexual harassment from some lecturers Would I recommend it? Yes � if you're determined and can adapt to challenges, ESUT will teach you both academics and resilience. However, I�d also encourage future students to be proactive and patient with the system.
My programme was a rewarding experience overall. As class representative for two years, I developed leadership and teamwork skills while working closely with lecturers and students. The classes were engaging, and the lecturers were supportive. Although some resources could be improved, the knowledge and experience I gained were invaluable. I would definitely recommend this university to others.
