History

In 1964, what was then called Nova University of Advanced Technology was chartered as a graduate institution in the physical and social sciences. Initially located at 232 East Las Olas Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Nova later moved to the former site of Forman Field in Davie—an auxiliary airfield during WWII.

Research

Nova Southeastern University’s scientists are engaged in exciting interdisciplinary research projects to make discoveries and produce new knowledge in healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, environment and social sciences.

NSU faculty are using more than $107 million in externally provided funding to work on projects that advance the university’s mission of research, academic excellence, and public service. They are working on hundreds of basic, applied and clinical research projects to improve patient care, make new drug discoveries, reduce mental health disorders, and examine the forces that impact our oceans.

Career Development serves to support Nova Southeastern University's undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni in the implementation of successful career planning.

All students are encouraged to participate in career advisement, opportunities to meet employers, and assistance with preparation for the job or graduate school search.

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) provides complete support and advisory services. We are here to answer your questions and help you with any immigration-related problem that you may have.

Housing services

The rooms at NSU are spacious, secure, and convenient. Living on campus affords you the opportunity to be at the center of the NSU experience. Walk over to a friend's place to hangout, stop by the library to get some work done, attend an athletic event right outside of your room, go to Starbuck's at midnight for a study break, or participate in a variety of club and organizational events in the halls. We also want every student to focus on their academics and not reoccurring bills and that is why the housing rate includes unlimited utilities including wireless Internet, cable, electric, water, and laundry. But more than that, every room features a private bathroom.

Library services

Stunningly modern and towering a full five stories, the 325,000-square-foot Alvin Sherman Library is one of the largest library buildings in the state of Florida and offers full collections of research materials, specialized databases, popular fiction and nonfiction books, magazines and journals, CDs, and DVDs.

ICT services

The purpose of the Office of Innovation and Information Technology (OI2T) is to provide the University community with the technological resources to support and complement teaching, learning, and research regardless of geographic location; to maintain a leadership role in instructional technology by providing quality services that facilitate, enhance, and support the students' goals and objectives

Medical services

The Division of Clinical Operations oversees the administration and oversight of the University's 33 different health care centers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Offering University health care services to the community, some not available elsewhere, and community outreach programs in the form of free health care education.

  • NSU’s main campus is located in Greater Fort Lauderdale with locations around Florida, the Bahamas and soon in Puerto Rico. We are at the heart of the region’s academic and research hub, and just minutes from some of the world’s best beaches.
  • NSU’s regional campuses extend our programs and resources to your community, offering convenient evening, weekend, and online classes. With campuses across Florida and in Puerto Rico, you can complete your degree at a location and in a manner that is convenient to your lifestyle. The regional campuses offer flexible class formats for undergraduate and graduate degree programs in areas including business, education, psychology, and health professions.

Sports facilities

  • The NSU Baseball Complex

The NSU Baseball Complex is considered by many to be one of the finest baseball facilities in South Florida. This fully-lit complex features an immaculate playing field with two outdoor batting cages. The grandstand seating can accommodate 500 people and has a fully functional press box.

  • NSU Aquatic Center

The Nova Southeastern Aquatic Center is a state-of-the-art facility that boasts an Olympic size pool and diving well. Opened in the summer of 2008, it is comprised of two moveable bulkheads to create eight 50 50-meter lanes, 16 25-meter lanes, and 28 25-yard lanes.

With more than 100 on-campus clubs and organizations, a powerful student government, socially active Greek life with many fraternities and sororities, pre-professional societies, and intramural sports, Nova Southeastern University is perfect place to learn and grow and excel.

  • Nova Southeastern University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associates, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, doctorate, and professional degrees.
  • The Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice (FCE & SCJ) is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). 
  • The Master of Science in Instructional Technology and Distance Education and the Ed.D. in Education with a concentration in Instructional Technology and Distance Education are accredited by the University Council of Jamaica.
