After many years of offering courses at separate locations in Fort Wayne, Indiana University and Purdue University opened the combined campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 1964.

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (NCA) is one of six agencies in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Institutional accreditation evaluates an entire institution and accredits it as a whole. The Commission accredits approximately 1,100 institutions of higher education in a 19-state region and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Great High Quality Professors and Good Resources
In my time at this University, I was always taught by a professor and not a TA. The professors were very down to earth people who cared about their students and I was always able to go to them to discuss problems I was having. The professors were people from very prestigious schools (Cornell, Oxford, Etc), but they were very welcoming and eager to help you succeed. If you wanted help applying to an internship or new school or scholarship, they were always there to help and give letters of recommendation. The campus itself was also full of welcoming people. With anything that you need, you can just email someone and they will be happy to help you or tell you who you should contact instead. The campus has many resources and events as well (except during Covid). In the fall, there is a large international student celebration where we all wear traditional clothing and perform and it is truly a lot of fun. Fort Wayne is a small city, but if you look for things to do you can find fun things and good food. The local people in this area are also very friendly and eager to help. The dorms are very spacious and come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, microwave, sink). There are food pantries on campus where you can get free food including some meat and produce. The campus could still have more resources such as for transportation. If you don't have a car, you end up having to rely on friends who have cars. I think that there should also be more areas that are open 24/7 for studying because many buildings close at 23:00. Lastly, the campus and Fort Wayne are not very pretty in winter: the sky seems to always be gray and everything is dead but there is not always snow to cover it up.
