The Naval Postgraduate School's (NPS) centralized Information Technology and Communications Services (ITACS) department is celebrating the fruits of its partnerships - with faculty, staff and students, local government, the state's network system, industry colleagues, other universities and Department of Defense - recently completing the fifth year of the 2003 IT Strategic Plan, The Information Revolution: Planning for Institutional Change.
One of the major goals of the NPS Research Program is provide cost-effective research and unique research laboratory facilities that permit students and faculty to support Navy/DoD needs. NPS provides independent assessments of proposed solutions to military issues, pre-deployment evaluation of new technologies, and combined student-faculty expertise for current research and development programs.

Military housing is available for Service Members with families, single Service Members, at La Mesa and Ord Military Community (OMC); the properties are managed by the Parks at Monterey Bay.

NPS is accredited by the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a regional collaboration of higher education four-year and graduate institutions. Approximately every 10 years, institutions undergo a review or reaffirmation of accreditation.
