The history of IU Southeast goes back to before 1941, when we were a branch campus of Indiana University located in Jeffersonville. Our story actually goes all the way back to elite British soldiers of the 17th century… the Grenadiers!
IU Southeast delivers valuable and respected Indiana University degrees and certificates in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs. We are adding programs constantly to keep pace with the emerging needs of the regional and global economy. In addition, students who want a more individualized approach may design their own learning journey via the Honors Program, the Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies and other online and on-campus pathways.
The Applied Research and Education Center (AREC) is an outreach service of Indiana University Southeast. The Center brings the research skills and expertise of the academy together with the practical knowledge and experience of local agencies to help organizations improve programming and services that benefit the community. The AREC brings current data and research to bear on issues that face our region in order to help local leaders make informed decisions and develop programs that can best meet area needs.
The IU Southeast Career Development Center is your resource for career counseling, internships, resume reviews, mock interviews, job fairs and employment search techniques.
In our residence halls, you will find lodge-style living by the lake with all the comforts of home. Our safe, walkable campus is just six miles from exciting downtown Louisville, which offers cultural excitement and a wealth of famed events, alongside opportunities for internships and post-graduation employment in Fortune 500 companies.
The campus is home to a diverse and eclectic student community. Besides our core of traditional students who arrive as freshmen straight out of high school or homeschool, nontraditional students such as adult learners and veterans also play a prominent role in shaping campus life. Student involvement is high, with over 100 student groups and organizations. If you don’t see one that fits your needs, you can start your own!
The campus Fitness Center is housed inside of the Activities Building on the far south side of campus and is dedicated to providing a friendly and safe atmosphere for all patrons. The Fitness Center has two new televisions, weight machines, a free weight area, plus a variety of cardiovascular exercise equipment that includes… Treadmills, Bikes, Elliptical, Stairmaster and Crosstrainers.
Indiana University Southeast is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (previously known to our campus as North Central), and will undergo accreditation review during the 2019-20 academic year. Because preparing for accreditation review is not like cramming for a final exam, the university has committed itself to a continuing cycle of self-review, as well as to the transparency that will allow each constituent will be as aware of the process as they wish to be.
