The Learning Planet Institute was founded in 2005 as a convivial place at the crossroad of life sciences and exact, natural, cognitive, and social sciences.
The Learning Planet Institute offers three degree programs integrated in the Bettencourt curriculum: an undergraduate program, a masters program, and a doctoral program.
Founded in the spirit of facilitating the transition from closed scientific enquiry to a more open model, we aim to transcending barriers between disciplines, science and the society. We foster research at crossroads between interdisciplinary life and health sciences, basic understanding of learning processes and novel education technology/methodology testing and implementation, and digital sciences.
The Leadership Program on “Teaching Through Research” has been created under the auspices of our UNESCO Chair on “Learning Sciences” to help young Pi’s and researchers in Life Sciences to develop and implement innovative educational projects.
The Learning Planet Institute hosts a 35-rooms residence, administered by the city of Paris, in the heart of the Marais district.
The Learning Planet Institute hosts the Learning Center, a space for collaboration and interactions in which students can come to study.
WiFi access is free in the whole campus.
The new Learning Planet Institute campus, whose site was graciously provided by the Ville de Paris, opened in October 2018. The campus includes an on-site student residence. Lead architect Eddy Vahanian along with Patrick Mauger and chief architect for historic monuments Daniel Lefèvre worked together to design a true learning hub where teaching and research intersect. The main hall, the Learning Centre, the Makerlab, the auditorium, the laboratories, the offices, the reception areas, the garden, the rooftop: every space is open and fluid (and often equipped with cutting-edge technology) to provide Learning Planet Institute members with an ideal setting for meeting and exchanging.
Learning Planet Institute students create their own clubs on a wide range of subjects of their choice such as interdisciplinarity, innovation, social and environmental development, science and society
