Lacking the college tradition of having an appropriate “nickname,” and faced with the dilemma of sending a basketball team into the Navy League with little more to call them other than “COGS,” a faculty-student committee organized a name selecting election.
University of Guam was founded in 1952 as a two-year teacher-training school known as the Territorial College of Guam, established by Governor Carlton Skinner.[3] In 1960, the college moved to the present campus in the central district of Mangilao. In 1965, the college was accredited as a four-year, degree granting institution.

Living on-campus contributes to the intellectual, social, and emotional well-being of the students who compose the residential community. Student residents live conveniently near University Resources (e.g., their classes and professors, the Library, the Computer Center, and the Field House) and they are part of a community that encourages and helps them to excel academically, while providing them with edifying co-curricular programs, healthy recreational activities, and enjoyable entertainment.

Organizations which seek to use the University’s name, resources, or facilities must be registered with the Student Life Office and the Student Government Association. All registered organizations must have a faculty advisor. Students are encouraged to belong to or form organizations to promote their common interests.

Accreditation
The University of Guam is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges(WASC).
Great teachers and program, very few schedule options for working students. Classes are too far apart as well, you can have one class in the morning and then nothing until 7 pm, which is not very convenient for students.

Unmissable campus life
My experience has been quite good; the academic level is good, you graduate with good skills, the professors are quite qualified, although there are always some who don't do their job properly, and campus life is quite pleasant; there are always people to interact with.

Bad experience
It's the largest and most popular public university in Guadalajara, but it has many problems.
One of them is the shortage of qualified professors, poor administration, and a lack of consistency between the university's values ??and its teaching methods.
In most cases, students have to learn on their own and with the support of their peers, not thanks to the professors.
Not to mention the facilities; the campus is poorly maintained, and there isn't enough equipment or resources to meet the demands of the curriculum.
I think there are much better alternatives for pursuing a university degree.
The Global Student Satisfaction Awards empower students across the globe to determine the best universities of 2025. Universities with a score above 4.0 (out of 5) in any of the 7 award categories, receive Badges of Excellence. Congratulations!
