History

Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is an equal partnership between the Universities of Sussex and Brighton together with NHS organisations throughout the South East region.

Research

Growth in research capacity is one of our top priorities. We have made significant investments in research infrastructure, including a world-class Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre (CISC) housing a 1.5T MRI and a PET- CT scanner and a Clinical Investigation & Research Unit (CIRU) dedicated to patient-orientated research and early clinical trials. There has been a rapid increase in postgraduate research students and research income has more than doubled over the last five years.

Student services

Through outreach work with local schools and sixth form colleges and the nationally recognised BrightMed widening participation programme, combined with our Open Days and Interview Days, prospective students are able to gain valuable insight into making a strong application to medical school.

Housing services

One thing is certain at BSMS - you'll never be short of options when it comes to your free time. There is a very rich student life here, with two vibrant campuses situated within the Sussex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and near a bustling eclectic city centre.

The Review

It's fully online which is okay but it takes time to reach the lecturer in case I need clarification on a topic.

Support with change in scheduling.

Brighton and Sussex Medical school truly excel in the wide variety of experiences that they provide. However, sometimes students find that things that have been organised from them have changed, or are no longer available. When they then try to contact the medical school about it, the support available is inadequate. Never the less, they are still expected to reschedule themselves, in order to complete the task/experience.
