Duquesne University was founded in 1878 by a group of Catholic missionaries also known as the Spiritans. From humble beginnings as a school for the children of Pittsburgh's poor immigrants, Duquesne today is an educational and economic powerhouse comprising nine schools of study that serves nearly 9,500 students.
Known for our commitment to providing an education that emphasizes not just intellectual growth, but also ethical development, a degree from Duquesne prepares you to make solid contributions in your field and in your community. A Duquesne education helps you to develop job skills, learn to think critically and come to better understand yourself and the world around you.
As part of the University's mission, students are encouraged to take advantage of the University's excellent faculty-student ratio and conducive research environment to learn through true hands-on opportunities. For Duquesne students, these research opportunities have paid off in top national honors such as Fulbright, Goldwater and Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation scholarships.
Whether just beginning college or approaching graduation, the Center for Career Development can help you explore majors and careers, seek internships and develop professional and job search skills. The center is also here to help you prepare for future success either in assisting with your job search or by pursuing advanced degrees.
