Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University was founded as the State Normal College for Colored Students, and on October 3, 1887, it began classes with fifteen students and two instructors. Today, FAMU, as it has become affectionately known, is the premiere school among historically black colleges and universities.
The University offers 54 bachelor's degrees, 29 master's degrees, three professional degrees, and 12 doctoral programs in a wide range of academic areas.
The most popular undergraduate programs are business administration, biology, criminal justice, and allied health. Other majors are available in every field, from animal science to engineering and nursing. Additionally, the school offers several distinctive degree programs. These include such majors as jazz studies, cardiopulmonary sciences, journalism and health informatics and management.

Samuel H. Coleman Memorial Library, the University's main library, is named for Samuel Harrison Coleman, who faithfully served the University as general alumni president for 14 years. UFAM is a great university in the context of Amazonas. I was a Physiotherapy student and had the opportunity to take classes with the best and most competent professionals. The campus also strongly promotes social equality and equity for low-income students, offering a restaurant with meals at low prices for students in vulnerable situations. My course received the highest possible score from the MEC, which is the federal regulatory body for higher education courses.
Hard work and consistency is always the key to success. Educational journey is full of challenges but loosing hope should always be at bay
