History

Founded in 1911, LMU is a top-ranked university rooted in the Jesuit and Marymount traditions. We are committed to fostering a diverse academic community rich in opportunity for intellectual engagement and real-world experience. We enroll an academically ambitious, multicultural, and socioeconomically diverse student body.

Education

We offer 60 major and 55 minor undergraduate degrees and programs. For graduate students, we have 39 master's degree programs, one education doctorate, one juris doctorate, one doctorate of juridical science and 10 credential/authorization programs.

Research

Research at LMU tackles important questions, large and small. Across the arts, sciences and humanities, faculty and students explore challenges that stand to make the world a better place. Student research provides an opportunity for high-impact, active learning through one-on-one interaction with faculty mentors, and grows students as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and intellectual independents.

LMU is home to 17 interdisciplinary research centers and institutes, where students and faculty wrestle with some of the most pressing social, economic, and spiritual issues of our time.

Student services

The Division of Student Affairs at Loyola Marymount University provides a variety of student-centered services, programs and learning opportunities that reflect ‘cura personalis’ (‘care for the person’), a fundamental element of Jesuit education.

Housing services

With the No. 11 "Most Beautiful Campus" in the country, Loyola Marymount University's Student Housing has many amazing living options for its students — some with an ocean view. Traditional residence halls, suites, apartments and theme houses that enhance the academic experience are home to more than 3,200 students who live on campus. Our facilities provide everything you need to live comfortably and excel academically.

Library services

At the William H. Hannon Library, we seek to foster excellence in academic achievement through an array of distinctive services that enable learners to feed their curiosity, experience new worlds, develop their ideas, inform their decision-making, and inspire others.

ICT services

What We Do :

  • Accounts & Passwords:Members of the LMU community have various accounts (username and password) for access to ITS resources
  • Network & Infrastructure:All ITS services are delivered via our network infrastructure.
  • Computer Replacement :The University's Resource Management Plan (RMP) is the phased replacement of all University-owned computers over a 4 year cycle.

Medical services

Student Health Services (SHS) strives to create a safe and healthy campus community by providing health services, opportunities, and experiences which support academic pursuits and personal development. The Student Health Services team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, an x-ray technologist, and trained support staff.

Our three campuses are rooted in the heart of Los Angeles, a global capital for arts and entertainment, innovation and technology, business and entrepreneurship.

Sports facilities

Campus Recreation and Student Facilities supports the Loyola Marymount University community in the areas of facilities, programs and services. We strive to offer quality customer service while continuing to grow and change with the interests of our members.

The Burns Recreation Center (BRC) features a fitness center, studios, multi-purpose courts, tennis courts and an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool. In addition to lockers and showers, the Burns Rec Center offers the Finish Line where you can purchase energy bars, juices, protein shakes and equipment check-out. The goal of the BRC is to fulfill the needs of all of our members by providing them with the best experience possible.

Student clubs

Loyola Marymount University students have ample opportunities to get involved outside the classroom with more than 200 registered student organizations, 24 sorority and fraternities and an engaged in student government. Commited to service and justice, LMU was ranked No. 3 nationwide for the having "Students Most Engaged in Community Service" with our students volunteering nearly 200,000 hours at more than 350 community organizations.
