Education

Within a challenging and supportive environment, the University of Northern Iowa engages students in high-quality and high-impact learning experiences and emphasizes excellence in teaching and scholarship.

Research

Let us know what your particular areas of interest are.  This information allows us to better match the incoming program announcements with the interests and expertise of UNI faculty and facilitates collaboration between scholars with similar interests or needed expertise.  You may also consult the faculty profiles in ScholarWorks to identify others with interests similar to yours.  All faculty and staff are encouraged to develop their own profiles in ScholarWorks.

Student services

Welcome to the Division of Student Affairs at UNI!  We provide connections and resources for students to be successful on their educational journey.  We aspire to develop partnerships that build a welcoming, equitable and engaging environment, and connect in-the-classroom learning with out-of-classroom opportunities.  By collaborating with others across the campus community, we challenge students to grow to their full potential.  Join us on this journey as we contribute to the development of students to become better leaders of today and better citizens of tomorrow.

Housing services

Our residence halls give students easy access to the events and activities happening around campus, surround them with friends, offer learning beyond the classroom and of course make the walk to class that much shorter. Plus, they're never far from getting something great to eat at one of our award-winning dining centers, the food court in Maucker Union, our cafe in Rod Library, a food cart or convenience store. Living on campus helps ease the transition to college life, gets students involved and makes them feel connected, all while they earn better grades on their track to graduating in four years.

Library services

Rod Library's many services and resources require the creativity and energy of dozens of faculty, staff, and student employees.

ICT services

The mission of the IT Service Desk is to provide the University's students, faculty, and staff with a centralized point of contact for all supported products and services. The IT Service Desk is committed to quality service through teamwork and a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution.

Campus life

UNI students enjoy a vibrant college experience living on campus where they are close to classes, award-winning dining, NCAA Division I Athletics, concerts, sport clubs, intramurals, on-campus jobs and student organizations. Options for on-campus living include residence halls and apartments.

Sports facilities

Stay active in our state-of-the-art wellness and recreation facility. Choose from a variety of health and wellness programs including intramural sports, fitness classes, outdoor recreation and personal training.

Student clubs

UNI students enjoy more than 250 organizations, from clubs and Greek life to sports and live music and theatre, there’s plenty to explore.

Accreditation

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has reaffirmed the University of Northern Iowa's accreditation for a 10-year period that runs through 2020. The commission's action follows a comprehensive self-study by the university and a three-day site visit by a 10-member review team last November.

My career in the National University

I've been studying for 4 years to become an architect in the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniera. I recognize UNI as a second home, because it gave me the opportunity to be part of something. The opportunity to have a new family (my classmates) and roles models (professionals teachers). The campus offers a great experience, good facilities and a wonderful environment for everyone there. My study experience has been such an exciting way to be what I want to be.

is a challenging environment

It is one of the universities with the best academic level in my country, in particular I think I learned a lot to cope with complicated situations, to be disciplined and to observe the world from a critical and scientifically based point of view.
