University of North Florida

History

  • The University of North Florida was first chartered in 1965. The campus was selected in 1969, construction began in 1971, and the University opened its doors to approximately 2,000 upper-level students in the fall of 1972. 
  • In 1973, UNF graduated its first class of 35 students. The University was quick to expand and was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1974. 

Education

The University of North Florida offers 60 undergraduate degree programs, 36 graduate degree programs and five doctoral programs, with distinguished Flagship Programs in international business, coastal biology, nursing, nutrition and dietetics, transportation and logistics, and music.

Welcome to Student Government at the University of North Florida. We are comprised of members devoted to serving the student body with pride and excellence. We actively work to meet the needs of students and to enhance the quality of campus life. We do this through hosting a variety of programs and funding student organizations. We also represent the student body on a local and state level.

Housing services

  • Osprey Cove - residents share a room and their own private bath. 
  • Osprey Crossings -  three-building complex and allows students the freedom to move about through an expansive lobby, complete with a covered atrium. 
  • Osprey Hall - three-story, lakeside, traditional university residence hall.
  • Osprey Landing - cluster of three buildings where residents share a room and their own private bath.
  • Osprey Village - three-story apartment buildings features an attractive "New Orleans" style central courtyard. 
  • Osprey Fountains -  ranked amongst America's top 10 "most luxurious" residence halls
  • The Flats at UNF - 2- and 3- bedroom furnished and unfurnished apartments with private bathrooms, full kitchens and balconies.

Library services

The Carpenter Library aspires to be the intellectual center of its community, to foster innovations that lead to the discovery of knowledge, and to further the research and scholarly endeavors of its users.

ICT services

Information Technology Services, located in Hicks Hall, Building 53, Suites 2500 and 2340, provides computer and software support, academic technology, networking, information systems, IT training and outreach, telephone and television services, systems integration, development, business services and IT security services to the academic and administrative communities of UNF.
