History
- Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TPI) - The official name from 1915 until 1965. The TPI seal is displayed on the Derryberry clock tower.
Tennessee Technological University - In 1965, the university’s name changed to Tennessee Technological University. Supporters call the university “Tech” for short. Its also referred to as TTU! Wings Up is the slogan of the students!

Tennessee Tech University (TTU) strives to promote research, scholarship and creative activities that engage faculty, students and external partners. Career
The Center for Career Development is the university's centralized career planning and student recruitment center. We connect students and alumni with employers by conducting on-campus interviews, hosting annual career fairs, and coordinating the cooperative education program, which provides students with real-world work experience in their chosen major. From freshman year to graduation, our staff provides resources in career planning, resume writing, and job search strategies that enable students to make a successful transition from college to career.

SGA - Students have the opportunity to express their opinions and collaborate with university administrators through the Student Government Organization.
Housing services
- Residence Halls with Living & Learning Villages - All residence halls include: utilities (electricity, water, phone with voice mail, cable, and internet access/WiFi), electronic card (student I.D.) access, no-charge laundry facilities, community and study areas, and vending machines (drinks and snacks). Each room includes a desk, chair, chest of drawers, and bed with mattress for each resident.
- Tech Village Apartments - Tech Village is our apartment option for students living on campus and is located on the northwest side of campus across Willow Ave. We strive to ensure our Tech Village apartments provide you with a comfortable and home-like environment at the lowest possible cost.
Library services
Angelo & Jennette Volpe Library - The collection includes over 2,500 cubic feet of manuscripts, photographs, and archives from Tennessee Tech as well as surrounding people, businesses, and organizations of the Upper Cumberland.

Medical services
Tech's Health Services is located at the corner of 7th and Mahler Avenue (east side of Bell Hall near the railroad tracks). Our health care providers are experienced in treating various medical problems. We offer acute, urgent care, preventive care, immunizations, and allergy shots. Our professional staff includes a physician, family nurse practitioners (FNP), nurses, and a pharmacist.

Located between three of Tennessee’s 3 largest metropolitan cities, Music City USA, Nashville, East, Nashville-home to many famous singers; East– is the city of Knoxville, South- Chattanooga and we are 2 hours from the Great Smoky Mountains, which is the USA's most visited National Park with over 40 million visitors annually.
Tennessee Tech is surrounded by 3 State Parks, the region has hundreds of waterfalls, lakes, mountains and rivers, with the most ecologically diverse climate comparable to the Amazon River.
Sports facilities
- The Tennessee Tech fitness center is an 80,000 square foot facility that houses intramural sports, health promotions, varsity spirit squads, aerobics classes, a 25 meter swimming pool, cardiovascular equipment, cable machines, free-weights, a 1/6 of a mile track and much more.
- Through Intramural Sports, Tech students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to participate in team sports and compete against each other in a recreational atmosphere. More than 20 leagues, tournaments and contests are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Active sports include volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, tennis, softball, racquetball, soccer, table tennis, kickball, flag football and more.
