History
Chadron State College, founded in 1911, is the only four-year, regionally accredited college in the western half of Nebraska. As a public institution with its roots in teacher education, Chadron State has evolved into a comprehensive college with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Education
Chadron State College offers four types of undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Education. In addition to these degrees, CSC offers pre-professional programs and teacher certification endorsements.
The primary purpose of the graduate program at CSC is to provide opportunities for elementary and secondary teachers, administrators, counselors, business people, and others to further their education so that they might be better qualified to fulfill their personal and professional goals.
Housing services
All Residence Hall rooms:
- Double Room (2 person occupancy)
- Eagle Ridge (1 person occupancy)
- Private Room (1 person occupancy)
Students can enjoy proximity to food service and classes, Wi-Fi/Ethernet ports, computer labs with printing, recreational spaces, cable in community areas, with no need to stress about utilities, maintenance, trash service, or snow removal!
ICT services
The Department of Information Technology provides and maintains computing and networking resources used by students and employees in attainment of academic success and efficient administrative functions.
Medical services
The mission of CSC Health Services is to:
- Empower students to reach their educational goals by promoting the overall health of the students and campus to remove any health-related barriers
- Provide accessible, student-centered, cost effective avenues for illness treatment
- Prepare students to be their own health advocates and inform consumers of appropriate health care services
Campus life
Chadron State takes pride in its beautiful campus and facilities. Many of the most historical buildings on campus have been upgraded with state-of-the-art technology and modern amenities, making it a comfortable place to live and study. Chadron State’s residence halls are known for being spacious. Students will feel right at home with the dining services, workout facilities and a recreational trail that meanders south of campus. From 2013 to 2016, over $30 million in new construction was completed on the CSC campus including the Rangeland Complex, the Chicoine Event Center and three Eagle Ridge housing units.
Sports facilities
Chadron State offers a well-rounded athletic program for the benefit of both the student body and the general public. Intercollegiate competition is available in football, basketball, wrestling, track and field and cross country for men and volleyball, basketball, track and field, cross country, golf and softball for women. The Eagles belong to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II. Intramurals are available for men, women and coed teams in a variety of activities.
