Research

The FIRS is the Forensic Investigation RESEARCH Station. Scientific research is simply a systemic way of collecting data to answer questions. At FIRS, students are taught to ask testable questions and design projects that directly answer the questions. Students are taught to determine the probability that their answer is correct, and how to write and orally present their research.

Researchers from other institutions are also welcomed, and actively collaborate with scholars outside CMU in projects that span multiple disciplines.

Career Services provides resources and guidance for students and alumni in their journey toward reaching their career goals. We take an active role in providing career exploration, workshops, fairs, and on-campus employer visits to encourage students to investigate and gain information while creating their career path. We also help employers make campus connections to build relationships toward meeting their recruitment needs and hiring goals.
