Gained skills through study and practice
My study experience has been a journey of both academic and professional growth. What I really liked was the opportunity to combine classroom learning with real industry exposure. Through internships and part-time work with firms like Icon Consortium and Excellent Consultant Ltd, I was able to apply what I learned in class directly to real construction projects. This practical application made my education more meaningful and helped build my confidence as a future Quantity Surveyor. Another highlight was my involvement in leadership and professional development. As Chairman of the Rwanda Quantity Surveying Association, I had the chance to work on initiatives that support student learning and promote the QS profession in Rwanda. I also participated in publishing the Inkingi student journal and took part in international exchanges, such as with Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences in Germany, which broadened my perspective on global construction practices. What can be improved is access to modern learning tools and software like PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and advanced estimating systems. At times, we had to rely on outdated materials or personal initiative to get the necessary resources. Improving access to digital tools and site equipment would greatly benefit students and enhance the learning process.
My thoughts on Bebs
It is a good business school which is truly humanistic , diverse and innovative . Small class sizes , well seasoned lecturers , very vibrant classes with extra curricular activities to keep us going . Very rich class notes and a very practical approach which felt like we were working already in real life .
