About

History

New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) was founded in 1982, and has evolved over the years in becoming a leading tertiary provider of Early Childhood Education programmes. NZTC has progressed in becoming a distance learning provider which has enabled students from around the world in gaining recognised Early Childhood Education qualifications.

Research

New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) fosters a strong research culture to benefit both our academic staff and students. Our staff regularly present at conferences, complete higher academic qualifications, write for journals and other professional publications, and acquire research grants through individual and collaborative projects.

Our staff are also engaged in a variety of research areas including: early childhood studies, teacher education, social science, social psychology, primary education, philosophy of education and arts education. In 2016 a number of research projects are being considered and developed by NZTC.

Career

NZTC provides career guidance to international students through its program specific career guides and access to a network of potential early childhood employers throught New Zealand. Career guides for NZTC qualification are available on request.

NZTC's Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) qualifications are approved by the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (Education Council), meaning that graduates are eligible to apply for teacher registration. This improves your job prospects and your ability to apply for residency if you aren’t from New Zealand but wish to live here.

ICT services

For any IT-related difficulties, the IT Help Desk is available to help. Whether you are having trouble converting files or submitting an assessment, there is nothing they have not dealt with before. Simply call or leave an eMessage and one of our dedicated IT Help Desk technicians will be back in contact with you within 1-2 working days.

Medical services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. You may purchase medical and travel insurance through NZTC.

Student Life

Campus life

New Zealand Tertiary College is located in Greenlane, a central city suburb about 6km from the city centre. The Auckland Campus is located next to the train line and numerous bus routes. The Campus is easily accessible using Auckland’s public transportation system.

New Zealand Tertiary College is also located in the suburb of Papanui situated 5km northwest of the city centre and on the way to the airport. Papanui is located at the junction of three busy thoroughfares: Papanui Road leading to the City, the Main North Road that leads to North Canterbury, and Harewood Road that leads to Christchurch International Airport. New Zealand Tertiary College’s Christchurch Campus is easily accessible by bus.

New Zealand is home to some extraordinary outdoor activities; where you can ski at a world-class alpine resorts, play golf, bungy jump, raft, mountain bike, hot-air balloon, wind surf, whale watch and visit internationally-acclaimed wineries and gardens.
