History

Founded in 1912, TSU is a comprehensive, urban, co-educational, land-grant institution in Nashville, Tennessee.

Research

The Career Development Center of Tennessee State University provides comprehensive assistance in preparing students for the world of work and for graduate or professional school opportunities. The staff has developed a variety of programs and services to identify and meet students’ career and personal goals. The professional staff’s commitment ensures the students are given appropriate guidance to meet their career planning or graduate/professional school desires.

Student services

The TSU Advisement Center is located in the Student Success Center (formerly LRC), Suite 116. The Advisement Center Staff is dedicated to assisting students define and attain their educational goals through academic advisement, encouragement, and referral to needed campus resources.

Housing services

At this time, Tennessee State University does not require its students to live on campus at any point of their academic career. In recent years, the University has consistently reached capacity of its on-campus facilities, forcing students who have delayed in submitting their housing application and deposits to reside elsewhere.

Library services

Traditional library dependence on books on books and journals has evolved into growing utilization of electronic resources, such as the online catalog, e-journals, and an extensive number of databases, many of which offer full-text articles. Currently, the library's e-journal collection continues to grow, offering a wider selection of titles to support students and faculty's research at TSU.

ICT services

OTS (Office of Technology Services) provides university-wide support in the areas of:

  • Academic computing
  • University-wide email communications
  • Enterprise-wide applications (Banner, email, etc.)
  • Hardware and software purchases
  • Networking
  • Phone and communications
  • Tech support (pc, mac, printer, hardware, software)

Medical services

For the past several months, TSU faculty and staff members have been creating and implementing plans to keep the University community as safe and healthy as possible during the world’s worst health crisis in our lifetimes. signed

Located just 10 minutes from downtown Nashville on nearly 500 wooded acres along the beautiful Cumberland River, the main campus of Tennessee State University offers the resources and facilities you expect of an outstanding higher education institution.
