Samford University is a premier nationally ranked Christian university. Founded in 1841, Samford is the 87th-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Located in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Homewood, the university’s campus covers approximately 247 acres and is renowned for its beauty and Georgian-Colonial style architecture.

Student services

The goal of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is to recruit and retain student leaders; meet the social, physical, financial and spiritual needs of those students; and assist them in developing unique talents, abilities, and personal goals for a life of world-changing impact.

Housing services

Campus is only minutes from the heart of Birmingham. This metropolitan area of about one million people is rich in history, and is home to major engineering companies, a nationally ranked medical center, a symphony orchestra, a Triple A baseball team, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and a myriad of other institutions and organizations that make it a thriving, modern city.

Library services

The University Library supports Samford by acquiring, organizing, and preserving a broad, well-balanced spectrum of information and by providing access to that information through personal and technological services.

ICT services

The Office of IT Security & Compliance serves a management and coordination role for the university's information security and compliance policy, communication, education, practice development, project development, and auditing. We work with constituents and departments of the university to ensure compliance 

Medical services

Samford University’s Department of Healthcare Administration was created for people who are called to serve through dynamic leadership. The department focuses on developing and nurturing servant leaders who will make a mighty impact on the delivery of healthcare locally, nationally and internationally.

Campus life

With more than 50 Georgian-Colonial buildings set on a manicured 247-acre campus, Samford is an idyllic place to be your college home. Our award-winning campus is often called one of the most beautiful in America.

Sports facilities

  • Located on the top floor of the Pete Hanna Center on the west side of the building. There are eight treadmills, eight ellipticals, and four Lifecycles bikes, all with their own personal televisions. In the cardio room are Signature Series Strength Machines and Hammer Strength equipment in the free-weight room.
  • The Cage, given its name for the style of enclosure, is a combination fitness area and weight room. The area contains several pieces of cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weight stations.
  • The indoor pool has five 25-meter swimming lanes and a diving well area. The pool is available for open swim and is also home to ESSM classes such as SCUBA.

Student clubs

Samford University students are encouraged to select from more than 100 student organizations to enhance their co-curricular and curricular experience. The Office of Student Leadership and Involvement provides support, leadership training, and resources to student organizations. Current students can access information about organizations and student life events through OrgSync.

Samford University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees. This status was most recently affirmed in 2007, continuing a relationship that Samford has enjoyed with SACSCOC since 1920.
