History
Arcadia University was founded in Beaver, Pennsylvania in 1853 as Beaver Female Seminary. By 1872, it had attained collegiate status, under the auspices of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was named Beaver College. The school admitted men from 1872 to 1907, then limited enrollment to women until 1972.

Housing services
As a residential student, you can expect:
- A housing guarantee: Every full-time, undergraduate student who submits a housing deposit by the posted deadline is guaranteed a space within our housing system.

- A safe, clean environment: From the Castle and traditional-style housing, to Knight Hall suites and fully-furnished apartments, Arcadia housing provides living environments that support students as they become more independent.
Library services
Landman Library supports Arcadia's mission by providing a culture of continuous learning, suitable study and work space as well as appropriate services and resources to support life-long learning, scholarship and intellectual contribution.
ICT services
Information Technology (IT) serves the needs of the entire Arcadia University community, both domestic and abroad. We are striving to build a collaborative Technology Community of Practice, sharing information and building a single, integrated enterprise architecture to enable faculty, staff, and students.
Medical services
In accordance with Governor Tom Wolfe’s announcement to close all schools and minimize in-person meetings in Montgomery County, Counseling and Student Health Services are now available by phone and online for consultation purposes.

Sports facilities
Opened in January of 1993, the Harry G. and Catherine M. Kuch Recreation and Athletic Center includes a gymnasium with seating for 1500, an indoor jogging track, a fitness center, a strength training room, an aerobics/dance studio, locker rooms, and a six-lane indoor pool. Hours are posted in the building and on the Athletics website. Students, faculty, and staff are required to present ID to access the Kuch Center and related athletic facilities.

- Student organizations provide opportunities for leadership growth and development and support the social, educational, and cultural life of Arcadia University. You are encouraged to join and serve in Arcadia student organizations. - At the start of each semester, the Office of Engagement and New Student Programs hosts an Activities and Resource Fair where students can meet, learn more, and join organizations.
