University of Missouri–St. Louis

With more than 16,000 students, UMSL is the largest public research university in eastern Missouri. It provides excellent learning experiences and leadership opportunities to a diverse student body whose influence on the region upon graduation is immense.

When the citizens of Normandy passed a bond allowing Normandy School District officials to purchase the Bellerive Country Club for $600,000 in 1957 for a community college site, the plan was locally criticized as a "speculative venture."  Despite this criticism, a bond issue was passed to buy the128 acre tract of land that included a club house, golf course, swimming pool, volleyball and tennis courts, and lake.

UMSL’s fundamental purpose is to educate and graduate diverse students as they seek different and better lives. Our academic programs emphasize student growth through research, internship opportunities, and one-on-one attention. Our award-winning faculty propels many of our academic programs to be ranked among the best in the nation. We invite you to join our community of UMSL Tritons! Explore our academic reach below.
