University of Wisconsin - River Falls

Founded in 1874, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is one of 13 comprehensive universities in the prestigious University of Wisconsin System. Located in the beautiful St. Croix Valley just 30 minutes from the Twin Cities, UWRF is a leader in exemplary teaching, undergraduate research, and sustainability.  

History

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls was founded in 1874 as the fourth State Normal School in Wisconsin and the first in the northwestern part of the state. Its first building was dedicated on Sept. 2, 1875.

Research

The River Falls Area Research Center (ARC) is one of fourteen research facilities in a statewide network coordinated by the Wisconsin Historical Society in partnership with the University of Wisconsin System. The River Falls ARC provides students, faculty, and the general public regional access to historical materials, local government records, manuscripts, and special collections from four northwestern Wisconsin counties: Burnett, Pierce, Polk, and Saint Croix.

Housing services

Library services

Built in 1954, the Chalmer Davee Library is an excellent place study, work on projects and do research. In the upper level you have access to research materials and computers, leisure reading sections, quiet study areas and group meeting rooms.

ICT services

The circulation desk provides 24-hour laptop rentals for students. The Academic Success Center, Division of Technology Services, University Archives and the Area Research Center are all located in the lower level of the Chalmer Davee Library. 

Medical services

Student Health Services enhances students' health by providing basic health services, access to information and resources, advocacy for campus health policies, and prevention focused programming so that students can successfully pursue their academic, personal, and professional endeavors.

It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and its mission is "Serving the common good by assuring and advancing the quality of higher learning." The HLC is responsible for accreditation of universities and colleges in nineteen states throughout the North Central region of the United States.
