History

The institution was founded in 1919 as The School of Automobile Trades and opened under the direction of Albert Sobey to train engineering and management personnel. In 1923, the school became the Flint Institute of Technology offering a four-year cooperative education program, and enrolling more than 600 students.

Library services

The Library supports student research by subscribing to more than 50 multi-disciplinary databases that contain academic journals, newspaper and magazine articles, technical papers, conference proceedings, standards, and streaming films and documentaries. Access is available 24/7 for all students, both on campus and off, through the library website.

ICT services

Kettering University's labs and facilities provide research skills and experiences to undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate students have the unique opportunity to engage in research projects in their area of interest as soon as they arrive on campus.

Medical services

A licensed practical nurse is available during regular business hours on campus. The nurse provides college specific nursing care and promotes health, wellness and preventive care for the student population. Care received in the Wellness Center is nurse-directed and based on physician approved clinical protocols.
