History

Founded in 1919 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur as the first Catholic college for women in New England, Emmanuel today is a coeducational, residential college with a 17-acre campus in the heart of Boston's educational, scientific, cultural and medical communities.

Education

The College offers more than 70 majors, minors and concentrations in the arts, humanities, sciences, business, education and nursing, along with graduate programs in education, nursing and management, across five academic schools.

Research

Research at Emmanuel means taking "challenging" and "inspiring" to a whole new level. Our faculty explore diverse fields of interest-from the induction of T-cell tolerance in bone marrow transplants to the study of Hindu culture on the island of Trinidad-throughout Boston, across the country and around the globe. At Emmanuel, groundbreaking laboratory research is conducted right on our campus. The Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center features state-of-the-art research labs on par with the neighboring world-class research facilities in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area.

Student services

The Office of Academic Advising assists in the academic transition from high school to college, and helps you to discover that your academic choices have a significant impact on achieving your goals.

Each incoming student is assigned a professional Academic Advisor. Together with your Advisor, you will discuss how to choose a major, how to select courses for each semester, and how to create a Four-Year Academic Plan to assist in timely graduation.

Housing services

The Office of Residence Life and Housing provides clean, well maintained and properly staffed facilities, which promote a living and learning environment that is safe, just, and developmental. The staff offers students opportunities to explore new experiences, enhance personal growth, explore and build new relationships, and play an active role in celebrating and promoting the ideals of a Catholic community.

Library services

In the Digital Age, the role of the academic library is constantly evolving-and increasingly important. Constructed in 1965 to house thousands of volumes and provide a quiet space for research and study, Emmanuel's Cardinal Cushing Library has been transforming into a 21st century destination for communication, creation and collaboration among students. Welcome to the all-new Learning Commons.

ICT services

The Academic Computer Lab is located in Room 010 in the Cardinal Cushing Library. The Lab is available during posted hours to all registered Emmanuel students, faculty members and staff. The Lab is equipped with both Windows and Macintosh computers, scanner functionality and various print functionalities.

Medical services

Emmanuel's Health Services provides accessible and high-quality health care to the students at Emmanuel, including the diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and injuries. The Counseling Center provides services such as short-term and group counseling, crisis intervention, educational workshops and more.

Campus life

For our students, 400 The Fenway is their Boston address for the next four years. For our alumni, it's the home they return to for reunions and events, to reconnect with faculty or to grab a cup of coffee. For the entire Emmanuel College community, it's home base: a place of innovation, history, service, friendship and academic rigor... all with a big green backyard in the midst of Boston's medical, business and cultural worlds.

Sports facilities

Not every athlete competes at the varsity level. Some choose to create club teams—from baseball to sailing—while others crave cross-institutional competition through the Colleges of the Fenway intramural sports offerings. And some athletes prefer to go their own way, running along the paths of the Charles River or lifting weights in one of our two on-campus fitness centers.

Student clubs

With more than 100 different co-curricular clubs, activities and organizations on campus, there is always something happening. Looking to supplement your coursework? Join an academic group like the Biology Club. Have a passion for community service? Join Saints Giving Back or our chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Want to get active? Check out our club sports or the Zumba Club. Wherever your interests may take you, getting involved is essential to being successful at Emmanuel and beyond!

Accreditation

Emmanuel College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC) through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

Short summary of UMH - Fisioterapia

Great university, great student-professor interaction, great facility. One of the top universities in Spain for Physiotherapy, including the current physiotherapist of Carlos Alcaraz and Alex de Minaur (both tennis players).

Ambitious student who wants to make a change in the world

The university was great! It was a small school so it was easy to get to know the faculty and work with them closely. Despite it being a small school, the course selection was vast. The faculty was absolutely amazing.
