History

On September 25, 1908, the Franklin Union, which is now Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, was dedicated. Well over 200 years after his death, Franklin's legacy continues to do great public good. Franklin's vision has guided the college's pragmatic approach of developing curricula that meets industry needs, and ensuring student success through comprehensive support.

Education

BFIT is proud of its long tradition of providing a hands-on college education in technical fields that are experiencing job growth. Our graduates develop the core skills that prepare them on multiple levels such as professional communication, information processing, and plan implementation. The continuous improvement of language, math, analytic, creative and, of course, technical skills, are all keys to achieving success.

Career

Under Anthony Benoit’s leadership, BFIT has added seven new technology programs, expanded its student support and career services, and created an accelerated degree program for high school students, all while not raising tuition for the past four years.

Library services

The Lufkin Library, located on the first floor of the BFIT Union Building (Room U108), supports student academic success by providing resources and services necessary to meet the needs of the college’s educational programs and facilitates effective use of information and acquisition of information literacy skills.

Medical services

Good health is a vital component of every student's college experience. Health is more than the absence of physical illness. Health incorporates all the components of wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, and social concerns.  We will provide you with supportive care and information whether you have a health emergency, a specific concern, or just not sure of how to take care of yourself.

Campus life

The Campus Activities Office is the central location for student organizations and student events at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. With a commitment to leadership and holistic student development, we strive to engage our students in a formative and social environment that compliments students’ academic experience; while preparing them for leadership in their careers.

Sports facilities

Students relax between classes in Ben’s Den, located in the basement of the Franklin Union Building. Complete with a newly felted pool table, a table tennis table, a foosball table, various board games, and a television, Ben’s Den is a great place to relax and catch up with friends.

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges), receiving initial accreditation in 2007.
