History
The University was founded in 1868 and officially joined the University of Wisconsin System in 1971. Our campus has continued to grow and evolve ever since, and we hope you'll come be a part of the next stage in our story.
Education
You’ll find more than 50 majors and 119 minors to choose from at UW-Whitewater. With our roots as the second-oldest teacher’s college in Wisconsin and our reputation as a top business school, it’s no surprise that accounting, marketing, finance, elementary education and business are our most popular programs.
Other majors in the top 20 include biology, communication, psychology, physical education, computer science, criminology, management, social work, early childhood education, information technology, human resources management, English, media arts and game development, journalism and music.
Research
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) seeks to create a dynamic and vibrant environment of discovery, innovation, and entrepreneurship through support of faculty, staff, and student research. We strive to promote scholarly excellence through leadership in research development, planning, and administration to solve problems across the state, nation, and globe.

Library services
The Library provides high quality library collections and information services in support of the teaching, research, and service functions of the University. The Library houses more than 1 million items. The Library provides access to over 113,000 ebooks, 15,000 print and electronic journals (including those via aggregators) and a wide array of Internet-based resources.

UHCS strives to provide high quality physical and mental health care, outreach, and consultation. Because of this mission, we hold a strong commitment to the diverse UW-Whitewater community and the promotion of equity and justice.
Campus life
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offers two safe and spacious campuses where you’ll find plenty of room to learn and grow. Warhawks enjoy the bragging rights of paying less — our combined tuition, room/board and fees is the lowest of four-year campuses in the UW System. Sports facilities
The mission of the Office of Recreation Sports and Facilities is to provide facilities, programs, and services that address all physical, recreational, and leisure pursuits of the University community. Emphasis is placed on participation, increasing knowledge of wellness and physical fitness, and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors.
UW-Whitewater is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a regional accreditor that ensures educational quality for post-secondary institutions in 19 states.
