Founded in 1873, Southeast Missouri State University has a proud history of excellence in education. First founded as a teacher’s college, the institution has grown into a comprehensive University with more than 150 academic programs in five colleges. It was originally the primary structure on the campus, containing classrooms, a gymnasium and the library.
Southeast’s education program’s unique block format in addition to providing increased professional experience, allows you to meet other students with your major early on, thus enabling you to form common bonds and establish professional relationships with others in your field.
The mission of the Office is to provide institutional research and reporting services to clients both within and external to the University. These services support planning, accountability and continuous improvement processes throughout.
Southeast graduates are eligible to receive complimentary career advising/coaching services through the career Center up to one year post graduation. Recent gradutes may have up to (4) sessions in person or via telephone.
The Office of Student Conduct (OSC) administers the Statement of Student Rights and Code of Student Conduct, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of the student body at Southeast. The OSC collaborates with a number of offices within the division of Enrollment Management & Student Success as well as the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Athletics, academic departments, and other campus units to support students in their educational efforts.
On-campus living is a critical component of your collegiate experience and we encourage you to invest in this opportunity and lay a strong foundation for your future.
Kent Library was dedicated in 1939 and greatly expanded and re-dedicated to serve a larger student body in a more modern age in 1968. Recently, the library once again embraced the emerging needs of new generations of students through the development of The Information Commons at Kent Library.
The Information Technology open computer labs are distributed across the main campus, three regional campuses, and River campus. These facilities are connected through network services and are dedicated to academic endeavors. The labs are open to all students, faculty, and staff with valid Southeast identification.
Through a partnership with SoutheastHEALTH, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Practitioners provide health treatment including physical exams, laboratory services, immunizations and allergy shots, medical procedures, prescription services, special equipment needs (ice packs/crutches).
River Campus is home to the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts a world-class entertainment venue for student and touring performances. The River Campus is the only campus dedicated solely to art, dance, music and theatre in Missouri. Unlike many universities that house these disciplines in facilities across campus, Southeast provides a unique opportunity for artists of all talents to spend time and work together on a daily basis and in the same space.
We offer a variety of incentive programs and challenges that create goals and opportunities designed to help motivate the Southeast community to be more active and live a healthier lifestyle.
The University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
