ONU has a rich history of academic excellence, and we’re always evolving to meet society’s ever-changing needs. We’ve most recently been recognized for teaching quality, high graduation rates, commitment to volunteer service and providing a high return on investment for our graduates.
Education
The University’s distinctive academic program includes mutually supporting liberal and professional education components that integrate practice with theory, complemented by excellent co-curricular offerings that enrich the Northern experience. To fulfill this mission, faculty and staff engage with students so they can learn to think critically, creatively, and entrepreneurially, communicate effectively, gain practical experience, solve problems collaboratively, and act as ethical and responsible members of a global community.
Research
The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) will utilize state of the art tools to collect, analyze and interpret information to support the decision making of Ohio Northern University. OIR will be a visible, strategic partner to the university administration and faculty in providing adequate and appropriate direction to support the priorities and operations of the university.

Life after college can be uncertain for many graduates, but at ONU, you have an advantage. You’ll be prepared for a wide range of jobs with a strong liberal arts foundation. - Counseling Center: Providing professional, confidential counseling services and support to help students cope with an emotional crisis and/or a variety of personal concerns.
- Health Center: Treating students with health issues and encouraging responsible behavior to remove health-related barriers to learning.
Housing services
The Dining Hall at McIntosh Center is open seven days a week for all-you-can-eat meals. Here, food stations are serving up home-cooked style dishes, fresh deli sandwiches, vegetarian options, pizza, desserts and more.
Library services
Heterick Memorial Library is the University's undergraduate library.
ICT services
The Office of Information Technology provides various support services to the Ohio Northern University campus and community. It is our goal to enhance the overall learning experience for students, faculty and staff by introducing and maintaining the most current technology standards, procedures and equipment.
Medical services
The ONU Health Center is a FREE, walk in clinic for ONU students. Any ONU student, regardless of insurance may utilize our services. The Health Center provides general health assessments, treatment, as well as referrals to specialist in the area.
Campus life
Ohio Northern University is set in the rural village of Ada. It’s a small town, but we still do plenty of big things. And ONU is at the center of it all. Without the distractions of a big city, we hone in on exploring what excites us, solving what puzzles us and building strong relationships with our community.
Sports facilities
The ONU Sports Center was opened for use at the beginning of the 1974-75 academic year and was expanded to its current size of 18,000-square feet in 1991.Ohio Northern offers a very active and dynamic club sports program to meet the needs of the more than 200 students who want to stay active in previous sports they have participated in during high school or to explore the opportunity to try a new sport.
