History

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine accepted its first students in 1970. In 1975, TCOM came under the umbrella of North Texas State University, which later evolved into the UNT System that now includes campuses in Denton and Dallas

Education

It is an exciting time to be at UNT Health Science Center. Founded more than 40 years ago as a small osteopathic medical school, we are today a thriving six-college graduate university with physicians and health providers representing most medical specialties. Our position at the forefront of innovation in the rapidly shifting field of health care is one of many things that make us extraordinary.

Research

Our internationally – known faculty researchers are exploring new approaches to the treatment of disease, including Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease, Primary Care and Prevention and Investigative Genetics.

Career

We are committed to providing the best working environment possible for our employees. We celebrate diversity on our campus and provide an excellent Equal Employment Opportunity environment. Our main campus is located at the heart of the Fort Worth cultural district, within walking distance of major art museums, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

Housing services

While our campus is located at the heart of an urban area it is extraordinary in that we are part of a world-renown cultural district, near major municipal parks and adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center which hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Whether your interest is equestrian, rodeo, live theater, jazz, ice hockey, baseball, running or a wide range of other activities, you will find many opportunities to attend or participate in your interest in Fort Worth and the Metroplex.

Training medical students and residents is a regular part of our daily clinical practice.

Campus life

The UNT Health Science Center strives to create an atmosphere for students that stimulates learning and integrates extracurricular experiences into the formal learning programs. At the Health Science Center, preventative medicine is a way of life. We encourage our students to develop the habits of leadership that will serve this community and the communities they choose in the future. This means developing personal and professional involvement in a wide range of community health activities.

Sports facilities

Our on-site fitness center is a facility designed to meet the fitness needs of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members. Take full advantage of this great resource available to you and to your family!

Student clubs

All students are encouraged to enrich the UNTHSC community and their own personal development by getting involved on-campus.  One method of involvement is joining a registered student organization.  There are many organizations on the UNTHSC campus that represent a variety of interests within the health professions community.  These groups are organized into Student Government Associations, Student Classes, and Student Organizations.
