The Louisiana State University System is a multi-campus, multipurpose system of higher education, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, encompassing all Louisiana, and exerting a major influence on the economic, social, and cultural life of its citizens.

History

From its humble beginnings in 1967, LSUS has become a pivotal force in the upcoming and thriving Shreveport-Bossier area. LSUS is recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a Title V Institution. With its stellar faculty and devoted staff, LSUS' Mission is to educate and promote critical thinking for its well-rounded students.  

Education

LSUS has more than 20 undergraduate degree programs, a dozen master's degree programs (including the new online MBA), and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership Studies. The student-teacher ratio is one of the lowest in the state, lending to individualized instruction and personalized learning.   

Research

The Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research was established in 2001 to conduct research and disseminate knowledge about nonprofit organizations and social research.  We reach this goal by offering nonprofit education programs, professional development seminars, and quality research and statistical analysis to clients.

Career

LSU Shreveport Career Services supports students and graduates in their career and professional development, helping them realize their career goals. We assist students and alumni as they navigate career decisions, we help them confidently search for and secure experiential opportunities, and we nuture in them the ability to translate their classroom knowledge into real-world success. Before graduating, Career Services hopes to help students do three things:

Student services

Gain insight into resources and strategies that work best in today’s economic climate. During face-to-face or virtual appointments, discuss your career goals and learn about how to uncover opportunities that appeal to you. Call 318-797-5062 to schedule an appointment.

Housing services

University Court Apartments (independent living with campus programming and activities). Some of the nation's finest on campus housing is available to LSUS students. The University Court Apartments accommodates over 450 students in luxurious four bedroom and efficiency apartments. Floor plans feature spacious living areas, private bedrooms, and full service kitchens. An eight foot perimeter fence surrounds the community with electronically controlled limited access. Amenities include an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sand volleyball court, and a clubhouse with a big screen TV. 

Library services

Study rooms and computer usage is available to current LSUS students, staff and faculty.  Remote Access to the library's online resources is available 24/7. Remote research assistance is also available through the Email or Chat with a Librarian buttons below during operating hours.  Due to COVID-19 precautions, there is limited access to library resources. 

ICT services

The Campus-Wide Lab is a multipurpose computer facility that services the needs of the LSUS students. It is located in the University Center, the social hub of LSUS. This lab offers free printing and scanning, as well as providing a pleasant atmosphere for studying and doing homework. 

Medical services

University Court provides outlets for your personal growth by promoting a healthy and environmentally responsible lifestyle that takes center stage. 

Campus life

Getting involved on campus is a great way to enhance your college experience. Becoming involved in a campus organization provides opportunities to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and network with other students, campus and community members.

Sports facilities

The mission of Recreational Sports is to provide a comprehensive intramural program that fosters sportsmanship, collegial competition and an outlet for athletic participation; to create awareness, education, training and activities for personal and group fitness; to provide a holistic approach to physical, mental and spiritual wellness; and to provide an outlet for group and individual outdoor recreation.

We are proud of the many opportunities that our organizations provide, and we hope you find something that catches your interest! We have over 70 student organizations on campus to choose from with organizations ranging from Academic/Professional to Honor Societies to Greek Life to Student Government to Special Interest Groups to Student Media to Professional Associations to Sports Clubs to Faith Based Organizations to Spirit Groups.

Louisiana State University in Shreveport is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award degrees at the Baccalaureate, Master's,  Educational Specialist and Doctoral levels.
