1953: The predecessor of HEU, the PLA Military Engineering Institute was established, and Senior General Chen Geng acted as the first president. Chairman Mao gave the instructions for the establishment. Studying at Harbin Institute of Technology has been a transformative experience for me. The academic rigor is challenging yet rewarding, pushing me to expand my knowledge and skills in engineering. The faculty here are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, often going above and beyond to assist students with their research projects. The campus itself is vibrant, with modern facilities and a strong emphasis on innovation. I particularly enjoy the well-equipped laboratories that provide hands-on experience, crucial for my field of study. The library is another highlight, offering extensive resources that have been invaluable for my coursework. Socially, I've made lasting friendships with both local and international students. The cultural diversity enriches our interactions and broadens our perspectives. However, the winters can be quite harsh, which took some getting used to!
