Hartwick College

History

Founded in 1797 by John Christopher Hartwick, Hartwick is proud to be one of the oldest colleges in the country and the first Lutheran Seminary in the United States.

Library services

The Hartwick College Library is named in honor of two sisters, Mrs. Orin L. (Helena Pruyn) Stevens and Mrs. Henry (Sarah Pruyn) German, philanthropists and generous donors to Hartwick College. Mrs. Stevens was a fashion consultant for Marshall Fields in Chicago until her retirement in 1952. Mrs. German was an elementary school teacher.

Medical services

At Perrella Wellness Center, our mission is to help you understand and maintain your optimum physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well-being. We practice preventative healthcare, manage acute and chronic illness, and assist students in becoming educated healthcare consumers.

Student clubs

Joining a club or campus organization at Hartwick is a great way to meet new people, build leadership skills and enhance academic performance. Hartwick offers 35+ student clubs that cater to a variety of different interests. The College features cultural clubs like the Black Student Union and Asian Culture Club, academic clubs like Chemistry Club and Writing Underground, clubs that focus on the arts like Clay Club and Fashion Club.

Accreditation

Hartwick College is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) with the next evaluation visit scheduled for 2027-28, and the NY State Board of Regents.
