Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

History

When osteopathic schools were forming throughout the country in the 1890s, two students at the Northern Institute of Osteopathy in Minneapolis—the Rev. Mason W. Pressly and Oscar John Snyder—targeted Philadelphia as a future home for an osteopathic college.

Education

PCOM has a longstanding commitment to providing quality care to patients through a number of services offered. Those services include osteopathic physicians at PCOM's Healthcare Centers and osteopathic manipulative medicine practices at locations in Philadelphia and Georgia, as well as practices in Philadelphia and psychology services at the Center for Brief Therapy.

Research

Innovative research activities on PCOM’s campuses range from deciphering mechanisms of cell, tissue and organ development, function and pathogenesis, to analyses of behavior, learning and psychopathology. The overall goal of our research is to develop and test innovative approaches to diagnosing, treating and preventing dysfunction and disease.

Career

The Office of Student Affairs on both campuses provides a comprehensive suite of career support services designed to assist students in reaching their personal and professional goals.

At PCOM, you can become part of our rich heritage, enjoy a competitive compensation and benefits package, and take advantage of opportunities for professional and personal growth.
