History

Founded in 1878 as Ashland College, the name of the institution was changed to Ashland University on May 12, 1989. This change was a practical and logical step based on the many diverse undergraduate, graduate and professional programs offered by the institution.

Education

Ashland University’s Graduate School aspires to a goal of academic excellence by setting high standards for our post-baccalaureate programs. By combining conceptual learning with theoretical reasoning, our programs provide experiential knowledge; student-instructor research-collaboration; relevant course work; and personal academic support.

Career

The mission of the Career Services Center is to create Powerful Partnerships with students, faculty, staff, alumni and employers as we seek to provide outstanding career-related services to Ashland University stakeholders.

Student services

The Division of Student Affairs at Ashland University is committed to promoting the academic purpose of the university while enhancing student learning outside of the classroom. Through collaboration with faculty, staff and students, we strive to build a strong community of respect and affirm the value of each individual.

Housing services

Ashland University Auxiliary Services offers a variety of housing options for both short-term and long-term stays.

Library services

AU Library, the tallest building on campus, is located at the west end of College Avenue.

Medical services

The Ashland University Student Health Center strives to provide quality health care for all students. The goal of Student Health Center is to improve students' level of awareness and knowledge and be a partner in their own health.

Campus life

Living on campus provides many benefits to college-bound students, and those who live on campus traditionally perform much better in the classroom. At Ashland University, living on campus will contribute to developing friendships; being a part of the Eagle community; having an established support system; the opportunity to be employed as a resident assistant; and will also prove to be convenient by living a short walk from classes and facilities.

Sports facilities

Sport clubs are student-led, student-run organizations which typically compete with other university or town sponsored sport clubs or teams and travel to different events/games throughout the year.  Sport Clubs typically involve more organized competition than intramural sports and may involve playoff components at the conclusion of the season.  The level of competition varies from club to club, and some clubs are purely recreational in nature.  For more information on individual clubs, feel free to reach out to the presidents through the emails listed below for specific answers to any questions you may have.

Student clubs

The more you get involved with student organizations, clubs and honoraries, the more value you’ll get from your college experience. There are so many possibilities at Ashland University including dozens of ways to get plugged in to areas of interest, meet new friends and grow as a person. You can be sure there’s something for everyone at Ashland — including you!

Accreditation

The U.S. News & World Report ranked Ashland University in the top tier in the National Universities category in its recently released 2017 rankings. The National Universities classification is restricted to universities offering doctoral programs and involved in research.

Elite Technical and Strategic Training

My experience at this university has been deeply rewarding. What I appreciate most is the balance between rigorous academic theory and practical application. Being involved in professional internships while studying has allowed me to apply complex concepts—from optimization to digital strategy—directly to the industry. The collaborative environment among students is a major strength. However, I believe the curriculum could benefit from more focus on the latest marketing automation tools and CRM workflows. Overall, it is a challenging yet supportive institution that prepares you to become a versatile professional.
