History

Founded as Jamestown College in 1883, six years before North Dakota became a state, University of Jamestown has provided students with a quality education grounded in high academic, ethical, and spiritual standards for 130 years.

Education

University of Jamestown offers more than 40 areas of study. With the Journey to Success, emphasis is placed not only on preparing students academically in their chosen areas of study, but also on preparing students through an experience that is student-centered and integrates the liberal arts with sound professional programs. The Journey includes a guaranteed internship.

Housing services

Living on campus will provide you with valuable and rewarding experiences—you will meet new friends, attend activities, and develop leadership skills.

The Office of Disability Services works to ensure equal access for students with special needs. We provide academic and housing accommodations for students with documented disabilities and information and resources for all students as needed.

Students will be placed in housing on a first come basis, contingent upon housing contract and enrollment fee being received. All halls include lounges that contain computers and network printers. 

Library services

Raugust Library houses more than 150,000 items, from books and periodicals to government documents to audio-visual materials to microforms.

Medical services

Jamestown Regional Medical Center, formally Jamestown Hospital, is a regional medical facility providing inpatient and outpatient services to more than 55,000 people in the south-central region of North Dakota. Between JRMC, Sanford Health Jamestown and Essentia Health Jamestown, the community is served by over 35 local physicians and a variety of visiting specialists.

Student Life

Campus life

Jamestown, has a population of 16,000. We are located right along Interstate 94, halfway between North Dakota’s two largest cities (Fargo and Bismarck). Jamestown Regional Airport offers direct flights from Denver to Jamestown. Jamestown also is home to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, a critical access hospital offering many services to the community including emergency and surgical services. Several eating, lodging, and entertainment options can be found in Jamestown. And, yes, we have a 26-foot-tall/60-ton (world’s largest) buffalo statue.Our beautiful campus sits on 110 acres and is made up of 27 buildings which include 10 classroom buildings and six residence halls.

Sports facilities

Harold Newman Arena is named after a local Jamestown businessman and his philanthropic family. It is a $15.8-million, 61,000-square-foot facility at UJ.Features
