Our mission at Texas Wesleyan University is to develop students to their full potential as individuals and as members of the world community. Texas Wesleyan University, founded in 1890 in Fort Worth, is a United Methodist institution with a tradition in the liberal arts and sciences and a focus on professional and career preparation.

History

Texas Wesleyan University was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1890. A committee under the direction of Bishop Joseph S. Key explored locations for a campus and settled on a site east of Fort Worth donated by area pioneers, A.S. Hall, W.D. Hall, and George Tandy.

The University endeavors to create a learning environment where each student is provided an opportunity to pursue individual excellence, to think clearly and creatively and to communicate effectively. The University also strives to develop a sense of civic responsibility and spiritual sensitivity, with a commitment to moral discrimination and action. Texas Wesleyan University strives to develop informed, responsible and articulate citizens.

Research

The Office of Institutional Research (IR) serves as the principal source of official institutional data, and supports support administration and management, faculty, staff and students by providing information needed for internal and external purposes.

Career Services at Texas Wesleyan offers career development assistance, support and resources — from selecting a major to starting a career — for all Texas Wesleyan students. Our career counselors not only help you map your career plan, but they also make sure you're taking classes that will help you reach your goals.

Student services

The purpose of the Office of Student Records and Registration is to provide secure, efficient storage of permanent student records and to maintain the integrity of the University Catalog.

Housing services

You won't see any high-rise facilities that house a small city's worth of students anywhere on our campus. We are all about small communities that have a big impact. All rental rates include water, gas, electricity, trash, cable and high speed internet. Prices are subject to change.

Library services

In support of the mission of Texas Wesleyan University, the West Library cultivates lifelong learning for the campus community via: supporting the academic programs and institutional goals of the University; stimulating teaching and learning; serving the varied needs of the campus community; and serving as a cultural and intellectual resource for local academic.

ICT services

The university offers technical assistance to all Texas Wesleyan students and employees. To obtain assistance contact the Texas Wesleyan IT Help Desk. 

Medical services

Health Services provides free assessments and counseling, vaccinations and immunizations, minor first aid, over the counter medication, referrals, 24-hour emergency pager and help with insurance. While we try to maintain zero costs for students, depending on the request, students may be required to pay for materials.  

Campus life

Texas Wesleyan University brings the "Smaller. Smarter." philosophy to everything we do, including our residence halls. You won't see any high-rise facilities that house a small city's worth of students anywhere on our campus. We are all about small communities that have a big impact. We have four complexes that house approximately 575 students.

Sports facilities

At the Morton Fitness Center, we strive to create an easy and fun environment for all our members.

The center is fully equipped with a weight room, cardio room, studio, locker room and showers, as well as various fitness equipment that caters to individual fitness needs.

Student clubs

The Transfer Student Association promotes a positive student experience by providing support and assistance to transfer students. Joining is a great way to connect with transfer students to exchange ideas and information. The group is currently looking for new members and leadership positions.

Texas Wesleyan University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master's and doctoral level degrees.
