History

Southeastern University has been training servant leaders since our founding in 1935 as Alabama Shield of Faith Institute. Through the 20th and into the 21st century, we have changed locations, expanded programs and buildings and graduated some of the most talented, dedicated servant leaders in the world, who have engaged the culture and made an influence for Jesus Christ.

Education

Academics at Southeastern University combine the one-on-one support of professors, common at a small school, with the global opportunities available at a large, prestigious university. With more than 70 Christ-centered academic programs to choose from, ranging from the arts and business to the ministry and more, you’re sure to find a degree that will equip you to meet your professional goals and make a positive impact in your career field.

Career

SEU approaches career counseling and job placement assistance from a completely different perspective.

We help students learn how to discern God’s call for their lives at COMPASS—The Center for Calling and Career.

Student services

Destinations, the Southeastern University missions office, gives students the opportunity to grow and use their talents to share the grace and love of Jesus in their local communities and throughout the world. Some students are interested in short-term trips, and others feel called to becoming a long-term missionaries. We believe that by investing in the lives of others, students can experience God at work and be inspired to share the Gospel for the rest of their lives.

Housing services

We like to think of living on our campus as taking an extended vacation at a world-class resort. Students not only get to live comfortably in our modern residence halls (many of which feature suite-style layouts) but also get to benefit from the many amenities available on campus.

Library services

The library provides books, ebooks, DVDs, CDs, scores, streaming video and audio, children’s materials, and serials to library users. The library also provides many online databases and other electronic resources through the WorldCat catalog and the library’s online portal.

Medical services

Students can seek medical assistance from our experienced nursing staff for minor illnesses and injuries or receive referrals to local medical clinics and professionals for further treatment.

Campus life

Each residence hall is gender-specific, includes Wi-Fi and comes furnished with a bed, dresser and desk with a chair. There are also cable and phone outlets, and students are allowed to bring small appliances such as mini-refrigerators and microwaves. Residence halls also have many common areas for students, including study lounges and courtyards.

Sports facilities

Southeastern University believes in providing our student-athletes with the highest care. Every student-athlete who suits up for the Fire will have access to our athletic trainers. Whether it’s preventative care, rehab, or in-game care, our athletic training staff’s main objective is to keep our student athletes safe and healthy and to help them get back on the field.

Student clubs

No matter your interests, SEU has a place where you can plug in and serve, make friends and have fun. From professional organizations such as Enactus and Florida Public Relations Association to performance groups like Unpland Improv to service groups such as International Justice Mission, there are numerous opportunities to plug in and pursue your passion. And just in case there’s an area of interest that doesn’t have a club on campus, you can always start one!

Accreditation

There has been minor confusion in recent years regarding our accreditation because of the unfortunate closing of another Southeastern University located in Washington, D.C. That school lost its accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and last offered classes in September 2009. Its situation has no bearing on our accreditation, as that university had no affiliation or relationship with Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, has been and continues to be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

I love it here!

I love this school! The science department is absolutely incredible. So beautiful on campus. Great people. Wouldn't change a thing about my last 4 years here. The coffee shop is so good and some of the proceeds go to our missions department. I've been on 3 missions trips twitch seu (2 medical, 1 regular community service) and they were incredible. I lived in the freshman dorm my first year and met some of my best friends to this day. The area is beautiful and tons of sunny spots on a lake to decompress in the middle of a busy day.

Why you should opt for SfedU

As a translator, I truly appreciate the university’s strong international outlook. It is demonstrated by the proportion of international students, 25 Erasmus+ destinations, 60 exchange agreements, and 10 double degree partnerships. SFedU is actively involved in the Bologna process and its graduates receive European Diploma Supplement. The SFedU has a wealth of facilities on campus to meet students’ needs in research, innovation and development from the-state-of-the art equipment, business incubators to our Sports centre.
