John Brown University

History

1919 - August- William Waterhouse begins the first building, Southwestern Hall, on Mr. and Mrs. Brown's farm. Mr. Waterhouse is a retired California contractor who worked with Brown's evangelistic campaigns for a number of years, moving into a town a few days before meetings were to be held and erecting wooden "tabernacles," capable of holding hundreds of people.

“We’re working on a specific aspect of that whole infection,” Funk said. “The experiments are conducted by growing cells in the laboratory and then infecting them with the bacteria provided by Dr. Voth.”

Medical services

The Director of Health Services is available to see students and to help them evaluate their needs. It is not our intention to replace your primary physician, but to serve as a substitute at times when college life may be "hazardous to your health." We want to help you understand some of those hazards, how to prevent them, and when necessary to treat and care for the resulting illness on your own.

Campus life

Beyond the programs, campus life at JBU is really about people. JBU people are real people who truly know each other, accept each other and care for each other as they strive to live the Christian life. With so many international students, missionary kids and students from all areas of the country on campus, you're sure to meet people like you as well as people with backgrounds and experiences very different from your own.

Sports facilities

Christian Health Professionals of Tomorrow aims to help members explore the health profession field and to serve the surrounding community. We host speakers who share their own experiences in the medical field, sponsor visits to professional schools and partner with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks for on-campus blood drives.

Student clubs

Here at John Brown University, we value student involvement of extracurricular activities because we believe it helps students adjust to academic life, develop relationships with others and build community. It increases leadership skills, encourages service and promotes self-esteem. We also know that students who are involved are likely to earn better grades, graduate from college and have greater success in landing a job and/or gaining admission to graduate school.

John Brown University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and School.
