History
Claflin University was founded and named in honor of Lee Claflin, a prominent Methodist layman from Boston, and his son William Claflin, then governor of Massachusetts.

Student services
The Academic Success Center (ASC) works in collaboration with academic schools, deans, chairpersons, faculty, and campus-wide academic support programs of the University to provide continuous, quality support for undergraduate students from matriculation to graduation. The Center provides students at Claflin University with opportunities to learn and apply needed skills to achieve in college.
Housing services
The residence halls of Claflin University will become your home base as you launch your college life, experience new things, explore your interests and make new friends. We will do everything we can to help you make your time here exciting and productive.
Eleven residence halls offer different types of housing, from traditional dorm rooms to suite-style apartment living. Upper-class and honors students are given priority in choice of accommodations.
Library services
The mission of the H.V. Manning Library at Claflin University is to support and supplement the teaching-learning program of the institution at all levels.
Medical services
Student Health Services works to foster health and wellness in the campus community. Our mission is to provide high quality, cost effective health care to our students means you'll have access to health care from a board-certified medical team that provides evidence-based care. We seek to empower students to take control of their health through providing education about preventative health.
Campus life
They are not just places to sleep and study. The residence halls are an extension of the Claflin mission, encouraging individual responsibility and facilitating your personal growth and development. Through the experience of living on campus, you will be challenged to broaden your understanding and appreciation of various life styles, cultures, values and attitudes.
The eleven residence halls on campus are staffed with trained resource personnel who will provide you with the information and assistance you need as a resident student. Get to know these staff members; they are a vital part of your on-campus living experience.
Sports facilities
HWC is an integral part of Campus Life at Claflin University. HWC includes two floors of fantastic fitness opportunities.HWC promotes and creates opportunities for the CU community to actively engage in fun, recreational and fitness activities, challenging our campus to connect education and lifelong wellness.
