History
Hartpury College was established after World War II as an agricultural education centre with only 50 students. Today, we have more than 3500 with record numbers of students studying at both the College and the University Centre.
Education
The first higher education degree in Equine Studies was introduced in 1992, followed by the first degree programme in Equine Science in 1994. In 1999, the first Masters degree programme opened with the first PhD student coming in 2004.
Housing services
For a lot of students, it will be your first time living away from home but don’t panic! You will quickly find yourself meeting everybody else in your accommodation block and before you know it; your block will be just like home! Applicants receive a number of ‘Coming to Hartpury’ publications before they arrive with tips and information that will help them settle in quickly.

All campus rooms include en suite and internet access. Quiet rooms can also be selected for students who have to get up early to care for horses, or enjoy a quieter space. Wardens are also located on campus to ensure you feel safe and there’s CCTV for extra security too.

Hartpury has become the first university in the UK to gain re-accreditation for its Elite status within the UKAD Clean Sport Accreditation.

Research‑active university
Good university, good choice of optional modules, and core modules have good content, taught by passionate lecturers. Lots of support is available if needed. Lots available on campus, sports facilities, bars etc. Current improvements ongoing to be ready for 2024.
Hartpury Uni
It has many facilities and features such as multiple working farms and animal rooms. Could have better disability access as one lift was always broken, even though it had been reported. One lecturer let down the university as they couldn't give clear information, even when directly asked
Good Uni
Hartpury is a good place for specific courses focused on at the uni. It hasn't got a great social scene due to its remote nature but has gone transport links to close Gloucester and Cheltenham. The course I'm studying is ok but would be good to consider placement opportunities. To get the most out of it try to do each coursework focusing on different types of animals.
