Bethany Fellowship was founded by five families in 1945. They were all members of Bethany Chapel (now known as Bethany Church), which was founded in 1943. These families each entered into a deeper, more passionate relationship with Jesus and were seeking to give all they had to God.
The Bachelor of Arts degrees are Bethany Global Universities most popular missionary training programs. Each program is a double major and half of the degree program is spent on campus while the other half overseas.
BGU’s MA programs are entirely online courses design for those who desire to enhance their intercultural effectiveness in their ministry.
Bethany Global University offers traditional dorm-style housing for its students and a variety of meal plan options. The dorms on campus are separated by gender and each one has an accessible kitchen or kitchenette and lounge. The meal plans are designed to meet a variety of dietary and life situations.
There are 4 dorms on campus: Finsaas Hall, Bergh Hall, Shelling Hall, and Church Hall, each with its own unique amenities.
The Bethany Global University library provides the opportunity for scholarly research and spiritual growth by making curriculum-related and practical resources available to the faculty, staff, and student body. The library serves as an extension of the classroom, a place for students to study, complete assignments, and advance their education.

While many of our students spend their junior and half of their senior year overseas on their Global Internship, all undergraduate students get their start on our campus located in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Bethany Global University is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the oldest Bible college accreditation agency, specializing in biblical ministry formation and professional leadership education.
It is officially recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education. It is also one of the eight regional associations that make up the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE), representing North America.
