Metropolitan College of New York

History

The college was founded in 1964 by educational pioneer Audrey Cohen as the Women's Talent Corp and was renamed the College for Human Services in 1970, when it was granted a Charter by the New York State Board of Regents. It started offering business programs in 1983 and its first graduate programs in 1988.

Education

MCNY consists of three schools, The Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education (named after Audrey Cohen), the School for Public Affairs and Administration, and the School for Business. The school follows the founder's Purpose-Centered Education philosophy.

Career

The Office of Career Services at MCNY works with students to help them discover a job path that will lead to a career that makes a difference—in their own lives and the lives of others.

Student services

CNY offers numerous activities, resources and leadership opportunities that enhance student life outside of academics and the classroom. Getting involved in student activities will not only expand your horizons and expose you to new people and things; it will also strengthen your resume.

Medical services

Informal counseling is available to students on an individual basis. We are here to help you develop coping, planning and problem-solving skills. Students also have access to the Resource and Referral Guide, which is available in our office for assistance with clinical problems or issues including domestic violence and substance abuse.

Campus life

Metropolitan College of New York has two locations, the main campus in lower Manhattan and a second campus in the Bronx.

In 2016, the college moved into a new Manhattan campus at 60 West Street. The college also moved to a new Bronx campus at 463 East 149th Street.

Student clubs

The Student Government Association gives the student body a voice. Through involvement in the decision-making process at the college, the SGA ensures that the interests and rights of all students are upheld.

The College holds accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and all of MCNY's programs are registered with the New York State Board of Regents
