History
Florida National University opened its first class on January 4th, 1988, in the city of Hialeah, Florida, as Florida International Institute under the administration of Dr. José Regueiro, Mrs. María C. Regueiro and Mr. Omar Sánchez. It offered business, computer, dental, electronics (now discontinued), medical, paralegal, and travel programs.
Education
Florida National University offers a variety of programs that range from Master degree to certificates, in the fields of Accounting, Business, Computers, Criminal Justice, Dental Technology, Education, Psychology, Nursing, Health Administration, Medical Technology, Legal/Paralegal, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapist-Assistant, Radiology and Ultrasound. All programs aim to prepare the students for personal and professional success as well as to become productive members of our society.
Career
FNU’s Job Placement Team strives for excellence in being a leader in our dedicated efforts to continuously network, develop, establish, build, and gain positive and productive business partnerships with potential employers for our students. We reach out to the private and public sectors, the businesses, companies, hospitals, and the general community. Fostering and maintaining open communication with FNU’s Faculty, Division and Department Heads allows the Job Placement Team to offer comprehensive services to our students.
Student services
The purpose of the office of the Registrar is to guide the students in registering in the different programs or courses. The Registrar’s Office conducts registration of each student entering the institution and processes any student academic activities, in conjunction with the Vice Presidency of Academics , the Divisions Head, and the Deans, such as class schedules, review of transcripts, etc. This office also implements university regulations relating to the removal of students with academic deficiencies in compliance with probation and readmission requirements.
Library services
The mission of the Florida National University Library is to support the curricular needs of the university. This includes the acquisition, organization, maintenance, and provision of timely access to library materials, in a variety of formats, which reflect current advances in academic and professional knowledge, as well as, information technology.
Sports facilities
The mission of the Florida National University Athletic Department is to provide assistance within an athletic structure that promotes the development of a well rounded education through structured sport and competition, to develop life skills of discipline, integrity, leadership, philanthropy and social responsibility, to elevate ethnic and cultural diversity within the athletic programs, to assure equitable opportunity for all staff and student-athletes, and to make the athletic program a durable source of pride for the student population, student-athletes, alumni, university, and community of FNU.
Florida National University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award diploma, certificate, associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.
