Founded in 1853, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary serves the church, the academy, and the world by preparing public theologians and scholars. We equip our students to proclaim the good news of the Gospel, to foster deep spirituality in the lives of others, to serve with cultural competence and commitment to racial equity, and to lead transformative change for the wellbeing.
Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary offers a comprehensive set of degree and non-degree programs that integrate rigorous academics with real-world application to prepare students for today's church, academy, and a wide-range of vocational settings.
Our vision of theological education embraces John Wesley's understanding of personal and social transformation out of a commitment to share the transforming love of Jesus Christ and to address head-on the variety of challenges and injustices our churches and communities face. The leaders we prepare will not just manage churches, organizations, and institutions, but will lead movements in their local communities and our world.
The Office of Student Life uniquely serves the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary community by attending to the well-being of its students. The Dean of Students serves as chief advocate for Garrett-Evangelical students, provides oversight for Student Council (StuCo), and promotes a student-centered environment that fosters development and learning outside of the classroom.
