The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on December 12, 2001, making it the first independent science and technology-focused, non-profit, university to be established in Pennsylvania in more than 100 years.
The goal of learning at Harrisburg University is to obtain the relevant knowledge, competence, and experiences to best be prepared for an enriching career. Learning is, therefore, a multi-faceted activity that occurs throughout and across the college experience; it integrates both academic learning (acquiring and applying new knowledge) and student development (learning about oneself).
A Harrisburg University professor is conducting research with students and a colleague in London that could help treat multiple skin conditions while simultaneously reducing food waste. By extracting material from the West African plant Prosopis Africana, Chemistry Professor Dr. Catherine Santai believes the team of researchers could learn how to control the production of melanin.

Housing partners include – Brickbox Enterprises, Ltd which is operated by Property Management Incorporated, International House and Pennsylvania Place Apartments. The University provides high quality, affordable undergraduate student housing in downtown Harrisburg. Any enrolled undergraduate student at Harrisburg University is eligible to apply to live in University-partnered housing. The University provides residence life services with HU partnered housing.
The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Library mission is to support the mission of the University by enabling excellence in teaching and learning through the provision of robust access to information resources, the integration of information literacy throughout the curriculum, and the provision of physical and virtual spaces for free intellectual curiosity.
IT Services provides resources for the university’s academic and administrative computing and telecommunications needs. Important services include wired and wireless networks, Internet access, licensing and support for software applications, web and portal operations, classroom technologies, the IT HelpDesk, technology training, and hardware maintenance for university-owned equipment.
