Johnson University

History

From its beginning as the School of Evangelists in 1893 to Johnson Bible College in 1909 to Johnson University in 2011, JU has been a place of deep faith, consistent prayer, and hard work.

Education

Johnson, a private, coeducational institution of higher learning offering associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees, strives to be faithful through twenty-first century methods to its historic purpose of preparing students to preach the Gospel.

Housing services

Our dorms are rated 11th-best in the country by Business Insider, and 3rd best by Niche.com! (Yet we keep our room and board costs lower than many state schools, including UT.) (Yes, those are hardwood floors you see in some rooms.)

Library services

Johnson University has libraries on both the Tennessee and Florida campuses, as well as extensive online resources for students at every location. In addition, the library’s helpful staff is available to assist students with their research and information needs.

Medical services

The Health Services Office on the Tennessee campus is in the Eubanks Activities Center. It is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and offers services free of charge to students, faculty, and staff. Basic services provided include first aid for minor injuries, assessment and referrals for injuries or illnesses, recommendations for self-treatment, and monitoring of vital signs

Campus life

The Commons Dining Hall and Café just opened on our Florida campus, and students are loving the great food, outdoor gathering spots, and coffee shop atmosphere. Head Chef Terrance Fisher is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and creates delicious meals for students and staff. In the Café, every fair trade coffee is connected to a Great Commission story. For example, an Indian-sourced coffee benefits Mid India Church Partners.

Sports facilities

The Athletic & Recreation Complex opened this summer on our Tennessee campus, providing beautiful space for eight varsity sports as well as intramurals, clubs, and classes. At the ARC you can work out in the fitness center, enjoy a snack at the café, splash in the 10-lane pool, play games and watch movies, or cheer the Royals on to victory.

As a leading Christian university, Johnson works collaboratively with other organizations in creative ways to help educate, prepare, and inspire individuals who desire to impact the world for Christ.
